Final Thoughts

The biggest obstacle was of course time in completing the 23 things. It was well worth it though.

Mashups

I liked http://www.godo.com.au/.

Brings all sorts of info into the one place instead of having to go here and there for the info.

Anyone for surfing lessons??

Podcast directories

The one I used was http://www.podcastalley.com/. Pefect for searching what you are interested in.

Here's one for the witches out there....

Web 2.0 tool

I used Stumble. A quick way of searching webpages and rating them on subjects you like.

Google Docs

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UYIdHHjeoPq_R8PqB2xfyVw4ShGx17Q0undcUmhFqA0/edit#

Excellent if you don't have word on your computer. Good way to share once again

UoN Wiki

I tried accessing this wiki and I could not log in. Very frustrating.

Wikis

Wikis are a great and easy way for all people to add and communicate information on any subject. Editing is so easy too. I really liked the Book lovers wiki that allows people to share their reviews of books read...fantastic.

Library 2.0

Library 2.0 is a great way for the patron to become more involved with the library webpages. RSS feeds are great for news updates, blogs on library webpages allows patrons to communicate with the library and themselves. Even having academic adding their own tags to records can no doubt help the calatogue be searched more easily as well.

Youtube stuff

Youtube is great for documentaries that don't appear on TV and a lot of independent news that simply is not shown in our filtered, edited news. It doesn't have a save option on screen you have to use other methods like http://www.savevid.com/.

technorati

Didn't think much about this.  Although, if I were really into Blogs this would be a great tool to locate them.  One thing I hated was the pictures of people with there mouths wide open showing the benefits of teeth whitening on the right hand side of screen.

Web 2.0

I think youtube type videos of staff demonstrating how to use databases, endnote, types of search strategies etc would be a great new way of providing reader education.  Students could access these from a link in the homepage and would have 24/7 viewing with the ability to review constantly.  I know they have done this type of thing with the wireless access but it could be used for so much more.

Delicious

http://www.delicious.com/doctorwhofanclassic

A way of getting bookmarks into one place....which I sort of have with my bookmarks in the browser any way.  You can search other peoples bookmarks...I did find an interesting link to an article someone had written about the 1974 Fifa World Cup Final.  It was a re-evaluation of sorts.

Thoughts about technologies

Everything is so much easier nowdays.  I use a video editing tool on my computer called Womble that allows the user to edit, add titles/credits, scene transitions, narration, sound effects, music to create your own movies recorded from a digital video camera.  I have also used it on DVD movies.  I have created my own edits of things like "The Phantom Menace", "The five Doctors".  I even like adding additional scenes cut from the original versions but are presented on the DVD... I did this for "Galaxy Quest".  Last year I edited a movie shot by staff at Newcastle TAFE called "A librarians Christmas".  I had to edit scenes together, add transitions, add narration, a music track, opening titles imported from a bmp file, overlay dialog, increase the speed of certain scenes when the elves appear.  It's great fun.

Melbourne Cup Day

I have no idea who will win this year!  Whenever I don't bet the horse wins.  So I am taking no interest this year.

NSAM263

The bulk of the policy is contained in Section I B (1-3) of the Pentagon Papers.
